This great news from the Washington Post

Obama signs off on nomination of Vice Admiral Michael S. Rogers, Commander Fleet Cyber Command/TENTH Fleet as NSA Director

President Obama has signed off on the nomination of Vice Admiral Michael S. Rogers to lead the embattled National Security Agency and the Pentagon’s cyberwarfare organization, according to sources familiar with the decision.

In an unusual move, Obama himself interviewed Rogers last week, in a reflection of the job’s high profile at a time when the NSA has drawn fire for the scope of its surveillance practices.
Vice Admiral Michael S. Rogers would succeed General Keith Alexander, who is retiring this year.
White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden declined to comment, but people familiar with the matter said an announcement is expected soon.

BZ! Good man for the job. Opens the door for RADM Jan Tighe to fleet up to Commander, FCC/C10F. Two very smart moves for the Navy.

That will be interesting to see. She just pinned on her second star last month. Does elevation. To C10F bring a third star?

The Washington Post calls him a "Navy Cryptologist", not an Information Warfare Officer. Maybe it fit the storyline better, or they are just clueless, but I still like it.

Great choice. Best of the available candidates for sure. Some will say he does not have this or that qualification. Right person, right time.

Will be interesting to see if he truly affects change or if he gets caught up in the bureaucracy that currently exists. For now will remain cautiously optimistic.

Mike is a very good choice. Can't give an absolute and say he's the best of the available candidates because I don't know who the others are. Don't envy him for the issues he'll be dealing with.

Nearly every news story identifies him as a cryptologist. They must be reading this blog !!

If anyone can do it, Mike can. He is a man of integrity, logical, not arrogant, and a hard worker. Well done and great choice.
