Commanding Officer VFA ONE FIVE ONE fired for maltreatment of a Sailor

Commander Kurt Bohlken was relieved on 2 May by Rear Admiral Ron Boxall, commander, Carrier Strike Group THREE, following an Admiral's Mast proceeding where Bohlken was found guilty of violating Uniform Code Military Justice articles 92 (failure to obey an order or regulation) and 93 (maltreatment) of a Sailor.

Bohlken had been in command for just over a year. VFA ONE FIVE ONE is currently embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

Always hate to lose a great stick, regardless of the reason. This is one more step down the road of demanification of the Navy. Maybe it will be better when we are flying "unmanned" aircraft. Seems we don't want men in them now.

Good Lord. In my 30 years of Naval service--mostly at sea--I never saw an Article 93 charge. That is just. Really. Strange.

It wasn't that long ago another CO was charged with violation of Article 93 - Captain Holly Graf.

I for one am glad to see the Navy taking steps to hold these CO's accountable. Being a tough boss is one thing but by far the worst CO's I have ever had have been Pilots/Backseaters.

1990 was my first experience with the awful way they treat enlisted and act as the rules don't apply. Long Story short the Helo Directional Controller (HDC) OS2 guided the helo into the ship through heavy fog and it even passed over the top of the ship. It didn't land and the helo claimed never to have even seen the ship. The CO (Pilot 06) called the airboss (04) up to the bridge to chew him out for the Helo's failure to land. He blamed the (OS2) and the CO called him up to the bridge to ream him a new on front of the bridge team. WTF
Tailhook bunch of pilots act like idiots and suddenly it's alot of training for the enlisted??? List goes on and on. The Navy is holding SWO's accountable it's about time they did the same to the Air community.
Only the opinion of a 25 OPS Tech LDO about to retire. Nothing Manly about destroying an enlisted guy to save your own a..
