Musings, leadership tidbits and quotes posted by a retired Navy Captain (really just a high performing 2nd Class Petty Officer) who hung up his uniform a bit too early (even at 30 years). The uniform is in the closet but, he still wears his Navy service on his sleeve. He needs to get over that. But, he just doesn't try hard enough. "ADVANCE WARNING - NO ORIGINAL THOUGHT!" A "self-appointed" lead EVANGELIST for the "cryptologic community". Keeping CRYPTOLOGY alive-one day and Sailor at a time.

Take up a pen and write
“There are a thousand thoughts lying within a man that he does not know till he takes up a pen to write.”
William Makepeace Thackeray

CAPT, Do you think a command requiring the review of any articles written by its officers and submitted for publication in a military journal/magazine is appropriate?
From a classification perspective, okay. Any other, I don't think so. I would never suggest going up against your CO's policy. I would discuss with your DIVOFF, DH, XO and CO. Don't do any of the work on your article at work. If you do, it no longer belongs to you. It is part of the Navy's work.
