Musings, leadership tidbits and quotes posted by a retired Navy Captain (really just a high performing 2nd Class Petty Officer) who hung up his uniform a bit too early. He still wears his Navy service on his sleeve. He needs to get over that. "ADVANCE WARNING - NO ORIGINAL THOUGHT!" A "self-appointed" lead EVANGELIST for the "cryptologic community". So why does the navy host/sponsor black engineer awards?
They feel the need to feed the "DIVERSITY" machine.
Honestly, by dividing the awards by race and ethnicity, it diminishes the award and I believe the recipient recognizes that. For that reason, we don't have a black/hispanic Sailor of the Year because the Navy doesn't allow an outside organization to sponsor it.
Outside organizations are sponsoring the race/ethnic based awards and the Navy is simply allowing them to be presented.

The Navy is wrong to do so. There is nothing more overtly racist than offering awards based on nothing but race. Merit is ignored because skin.
