The Navy pours cold water on the ALS "Ice Bucket" Challenge

An unnamed unofficial source with the Blue Angels commented,
"We never got the memo."

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder that causes muscle weakness. It is incurable and eventually fatal. It occurs at a very low incidence, about one to three cases per 100,000 people.

Think we will see a retraction soon or a ruling that this is a 'one off' situation. Seems like the DANT and the SUPE are in most direct violation of joint ethics reg for using midshipmen in their misdeeds.

The Defense Department has declared war on the ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge,” the Internet phenomenon in which people get doused with ice water to raise money to combat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Even former commander in chief President George W. Bush has accepted the challenge, but the DoD Office of General Counsel has issued an edict that current service members and Defense Department employees cannot have ice dumped on them while in uniform — including civilian uniforms.

How does a 3 star superintendent not understand Joint Ethics Regulations. Isn't Carter the man who briefly came up with the Navy's ethics standard?
