What can be more important ?
"Mike,
Thanks for your continuing engagement on the vital issue of leadership
-- at the end of the day, what can be more important to our Navy and our
nation?"
Admiral James Stavridis

No offense Jim but I can think of a few things more important to our Navy. 1. Warships that go beyond the powerpoint. Would you deploy to the Persian Gulf as escort for the MCMs or for MPF ships in an LCS? 2. A little honesty would go a long way at the top. Nobody believes the OPNAV admiralty anymore on anything. They got their reputation selling us the LCS and LPD17 and optimal manning and, frankly, the whole putrid diversity is our strength crap. 3. A little loyalty and integrity would not go amiss Jim. Getting fired by some admiral for cause and then having it overturned a year later, AFTER the investigation, is pretty damning proof that the admirals really don't have any loyalty at all to the men and women that work for them. 4. A little pro-activity on the part of the Admirals Jim. That would be vital as we go into an era of austere budgets. Where are the admirals demanding the staffs be reduced significantly and the admiral billets drastically reduced? Who said AFRICOM is stupid? Why do we have so many flag billets in NATO? Why is it the admirals feel they can gap Shmucketelli's billets but not a flag billet or any critical staff billets?
What I'm saying Jim is that even before we need leadership we need integrity and accountability. Nobody was ever held accountable for the dogs NAVSEA produced or any of the abysmal leadership failures of the flags over the years.

I think you are talking about the same thing - leadership.
