CONGRATULATIONS !!
Musings, leadership tidbits and quotes posted by a retired Navy Captain (really just a high performing 2nd Class Petty Officer) who hung up his uniform a bit too early. He still wears his Navy service on his sleeve. He needs to get over that. "ADVANCE WARNING - NO ORIGINAL THOUGHT!" A "self-appointed" lead EVANGELIST for the "cryptologic community". Keeping CRYPTOLOGY alive-one day and Sailor at a time. 2015 is 80th Anniversary of the Naval Security Group.

I worked with Jan in Hawaii. One of the best female officers I have ever worked with in the NSA community.
Flew with her as a LT in the gulf. She was already a superstar then. I know some sailors didn't like her, so what's new?
Worked with CAPT Tighe when she was an ENS - LT at NSGA Northwest in the 80's. She was extremely bright, a quick study and an exceptional Division Officer. She inspired subordinates to pursue higher education and challenging assignments. Knew she was destined for great things, and she has not disappointed this old goat. Three cheers for the new RADM!
My boss here Captain Jean Benfer is an incredible leader. I am sorry she was not picked. I do not know Captain Tihge. What is her history? Was she a pilot before she became IW?
Captain Tighe was not a pilot. The breast insignia is the Naval Aviation Observer (NAO) wings. She was a Communications Intelligence (COMINT) Evaluator (COMEVAL) with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron ONE (VQ-1).
And, yes, Captain Benfer is a fine leader.
This lady is very pretty.
