I suspect that Admiral Ernest J. King - commander of the original U.S. 10th Fleet would be proud that 'his' Fleet has been re-established.

A couple of things about this post.
First, I "suspect" Admiral King would be aghast that "his" 10th Flt was resurrected and handed over to bunch of techno-geeks.
and
Second, a career cryptologist championing/cheering this "shift" in thinking/focus within the community (formerly known as cryptologists) is akin to a weather forecaster cheering yet another week of sunny weather in the midst of a drought.
It may look nice, but in the long run it is going to end up hurting this community and the Navy.
FCC is anathema to afloat cryptology. If there is any hope of ever getting the "afloat" part of the CT community "fixed" we need a clear and distinct split from the shiny nickels of cyber.

Anonymous CTRCS - great points. In speaking with VADM Dorsett as the head of the IDC, he has assured me that we will see a reemergence of cryptology in this process. In fact, I was heartened to see VADM Starling's message a short time ago with more references to cryptology in his single message than I had seen from NNWC in some time. Our cryptologic technicians have been and will remain the lifeblood of any good work we get done as a community. That's my forecast - and I am sticking to it Sunny from here on out - CAVU.
I hope so. I truly do. The cynic in me won't hold my breath, but I will continue to hope.

CTRCS
An update to afloat cryptologic NTTP recently went out for fleet review. Assume it will be signed and released soon.
It was inevitable that computers would enter the toolkits of Navy cryptologists. I welcome it and hope that others will as well.
