Forward ... to the past. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case. Keeping cryptology alive, one Sailor at a time.

  1. Mike - thanks for reviving the blog, even if it is temporary, for this good news. VADM Tighe has made a great decision and I couldn't have said it better - Rebranding as Cryptologic Warfare honors our heritage, links us with our enlisted force, and challenges us for the future.

  2. Mike - I agree with Tim's sentiment about the blog. I'll sit on my hands and not comment if you start posting again.

  3. Matters zero what we are called, only what we do matters. The bigger, more important story is address of the community by (one of) its leaders... ...finally. This is the first time in a long, long time a community leader has approached the broader community with his/her personal thoughts. Much like the community's name, the content doesn't really matter. More important is the effort made to extend thoughts and conversation to the entire community. Kudos to VADM Tighe. If success is to be had, everyone has to buy in and participate - not just those in MD, not just those with STEM degrees, not just those with SIGINT at sea, etc. Actions and precepts must be inclusive rather than alienating. It's the difference between representing the community with capable problem-solvers or with autonomous drones.

Content doesn't matter? WTF? Great, we have buy in on a bad idea.

  6. @ Anonymous-
Apologies for any confusion; hope the following will clarify:
In context, 'content' is meant to be synonymous with 'topic'. You don't REALLY think I'm advocating we buy in on bad ideas, do you?! The attempt was to indicate communication conduits between community leadership and its members are more important for the community than the topics discussed. Issues change over time, but healthy communication to provide discussion/resolution on those issues can't. Waxing and waning levels of communication/direction from leadership can be detrimental, as the last dozen years testify.
