Flag Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced today that the president has made the following nomination:
Navy Rear Adm. Jan E. Tighe for appointment to the rank of vice admiral and for assignment as commander, Fleet Cyber Command/commander, Tenth Fleet, Fort George G. Meade, Md. Tighe is currently serving as deputy commander, Fleet Cyber Command/deputy commander, TENTH Fleet, Fort George G. Meade, Md.
The interesting question will be: who takes over as deputy? Another IP Officer? an Oceanographer?
ReplyDeleteThe FCC/C10F DCOM position was downgraded from 0-7 to 0-6 earlier this year as part of DoD and DON actions to reduce overall number of FO/GOs, will be interesting to whether an IDC or URL Officer will assigned to the position.

Next hopefully is a true IDC Officer to lead OPNAV N2/N6. That staff needs a rudder check
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I believe the OPNAV N2/N6 billet was re-coded to be filled by URL. I could be wrong, but that was the last I heard.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good thing for the community. I am excited to see how things will go once VADM Rogers is confirmed as DIRNSA and RADM Tighe as FCC/C10F... its a good time to be in the IDC.
ReplyDeleteRADM Grace Hopper was a national treasure. VADM Tighe is on a path to surpass Grace in the annals of Navy history.
ReplyDeleteFirst female Fleet commander ever. Proud.
ReplyDeleteIt is about time.
ReplyDeleteA good thing for the community! Recent lat transfer and hope to impact C10F.
