Over the past month I had two very different conversations with two very different COs in our Information Dominance Corps. The subject of my blog came up and I swear I didn't bring it up. In one circumstance, the XO brought it up and in the other, the CO brought it up himself.
One CO said he was simply too busy to read my blog or any others.
The other CO said he was too busy not to read my blog and others.
This reminds me of the survey a few years ago on the blog about readership.
People who read this blog can be divided into four groups.
- 25% like it for the right reasons.
- 25% hate it for the wrong reasons.
- 25% like it for the wrong reasons.
- 25% hate it for the right reasons.
And, there is another group out there that lurks through the blog and is afraid to admit that they check the blog just to make sure they haven't missed something important about the community. In any case, I welcome all reader and comments - please limit the profanity.

People WILL take time for the things they find most important. Reading your description of this situation it seems clear that the CO who reads your blog values others' opinions, feedback, and new ideas. At the same time the CO who says he is too busy to read your blog most likely doesn't. I have a good idea which one will be more successful.

Keep up the great work, Mike-
BL- If those in leadership positions are not thinking, they are not leading. If they are not leading, they need to move out of the way.
I would very much dislike working for the CO who was too busy to read. I worked for that kind of CO a few times, they're the ones that come in early to reproof-read the POD they signed late the night before and decide to "change" it at 0545. The very best COs I worked for always had time because they had good people doing the work for them. They maybe had to teach their people what they wanted from them but once that was done it worked great.
You could count me in one of the categories wrt your blog. I'm going to have to let you tell me which category. I like it.
Just curious: What are the definitions of the "right" and "wrong" reasons?
