Captain Devon Jones, who assumed command in August 2011, was fired by Rear Admiral Dixon Smith, head of Navy Region Southwest, “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command,” according to a Navy Region Southwest news release.
The Navy would not release the full details of Jones’ alleged actions at this time because the case remains under investigation, said Commander Brad Fagan, director of public affairs at Navy Region Southwest.

“The Navy expects its leaders to provide principled and highly ethical leadership, stressing discipline, accountability and the importance of treating shipmates with dignity and respect,” the statement said. “It is of paramount importance to the Navy that even the appearance of impropriety by leadership is unacceptable, and all personnel must conduct themselves in a manner beyond reproach.”
Agreed, but I know this guy and he is no saint!

I was the flight surgeon that flew into Iraq to rescue Lt. Jones in the Gulf War. When we got back to Al Jouf, I examined him and I told him I was going to put him in for a Purple Heart for the wounds he sustained during the ejection. He refused. He said he didnt think his injuries were severe enough. Not too many people turn down a deserved Purple Heart. I think that says something about his character.
This is a railroad job and it will come out. Anonymous accusations are a gutless way to go after somebody's job. Look to see who benefited from his firing.....
i'm just sayin
I don't know (or care) why he got fired but I can tell you this guy is a d_bag. Self proclaimed best Tomcat pilot in the Navy.
