The ultimate sacrifice

Since the attack on America on September 11, 2001, a total of 128 women who deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait have given their lives in our Global War on Terrorism.

  1. Captain Lambert,

I have never seen any information on the subject of women casualties in the Global War on Terrorism. We at one time in this country depended on the newspapers to give any news of importance in an honest and straightforward manner, to me as a citizen and retired Navy individual this is very important and we should have had this information published in the newspapers, these women died in service to their country and deserve to be honored for their sacrifice, and not just left in the background and forgotten by all except their families.

Captain, the term Global War on Terrorism is no longer used, the term, Overseas Contingency Operation; (a meaningless term) is what is used today. You no doubt knew that.

    Very Respectfully,

  2. By continuing to segregate women (in this case deaths), we continue to "exclude" them. Why can't we honor them as sailors, soldiers airmen and marines without the stipulation that they were/are women (or black, hispanic, jewish, short, tall, etc.)

  4. Navyman835,

You had to stir the pot didn’t you, by pointing out other such things as race, religion and physical differences, when this post only had to do with women. Why is it that you use the words Airmen and Navyman? It would appear that you did not think, because that opposes what you were trying to bring out in your statement. I might invite you also to check your use of capitalization as it appears to be wanting.

  5. SORRY ABOUT THE CAPITILIZATION. I MEANT NO OFFENSE. I used the term airmen because that is what they (USAF) are commonly referred to. As far as stirring the pot, I am expressing my ideas/feelings in writing much as everyone else is. If my writing causes you to reflect on your belief system, that’s a good thing. If not, then ignore what I say and give it no weight. By the way, I used Navyman because, well, I'm a male. I am comfortable in my manhood such that I can go by something else...
